In reference to this post, resonating with @chasetheriver sensible response, this precise question has started looping in my head since then:
How to give top players the chance of playing each other, while (3)protecting recreational spenders (in particular not adding further stakes, and so as a further consequence (2) not adding further tables)?
Time has been very proficient to come up with an idea:
Special Event that occurs temporarily (like the “SnG Sprints” philosophy) with a prerequisite to join the (event) table (prerequisite is gaining a fixed amount of bilions at regular tables).
This idea recycles pre-existing programming functionalities, and is in total respect to
- recreational spenders
- preservation of stakes
As a consequence, respects the replay economy.
Now I’m going to explain these two points:
- protect recreational buyers:
The access to the event is something that has to be earned, not bought:
The prerequisite (to access this event table) is gaining a fixed amount of bilions at the regular tables.
How does it protect recreational spenders?
Let’s assume, a player asks for a package.
Now asking for 100ml package or 5b package, is indifferent(they both allow to play all the regular tables in the same manner). This would then contain/limit packages to the current sizes and consequently protect recreational spenders.
- Preserve the stakes
Like “SnG Sprints” tables, they do not get staticly added to the lobby, but rather they are born and then expire(Concretely, the event might run last weekend of every month, so opens on last saturday and closes on last sunday of the month).
The positive effects of this event:
- Inspiration and entartainment for the viewers, spectators(enhance their passion for the game and site),
- further motivation, for those who have reached the highest stakes and don’t feel anymore motivated to push forward.
- it could also start motivating a “larger population” to buy packages of chips (in a sustainable way) in order to “qualify” for the event(starting with a certain amount of chips saves time, compared to starting from zero).
- Last but not least, this event could bring to life this “Replaypoker is looking for streamers” idea, which not only would get the community more involved in the love for the game and connect players together, but also it might be a way to “advertise” the site in the Twitch environment and so attract more outsider into the site, which would be even more beneficial for the site and its economy.
