i am a major fish, i have purchased chips for myself and others.I want a bankroll to manage.it just makes it much less stressful if you have backup.i consider it all cheap practice for cash games.good people, friendly atmosphere.plus you meet a wide variety of people and players.
Thanks , you make for others play free. How funny they complain …
I would like to congratulate the winners of the marathon. i played moonmanld a couple of times and even beat him HU once, i also played harrysh a couple of times and I played wolfsdarkhalf many times.
At one tables i was playing at the conversation turned to just how many games these guys had played but, i suspect this was because he was multi-tabling and missed my question, when asked directly how many games he had played moon refused to answer.
As poker players we love stats & i wonder if it would be possible to publish the number of games played and an average for the promotion rather than just the bare 1st, 2nd & 3rd etc. I played 128 games and averaged 5829 points (i think), I would love to know how many games you have to play to win this marathon. I’m guessing it is only something that you could do if you were someone who didn’t have a job.
Maybe more recognition could be given to those who maintained the best averages rather than those who had the time to play all day and night. I think it would give more incentive to those of us who know that there is no possible way that we could win the promotion outright.
Just my thought on a possible way to improve the promotion and give others something else to play for. What do you guys think?
The promotion you describe we run every month for the SnGs.
Running an extra promotion on the same conditions make no sense.
The 240 Hour Marathon was indeed for players who play a lot, for them the normal monthly SnG leaderboards are less atractive.
And when you not wanted to play for the 240 Hour Marathon you was still able to play for the normal monthly SnG Leaderboard.
Sorry, I obviously wasn’t very clear. i don’t want another promotion, my request was for more stats and an extra column to display players’ averages
“The 240 Hour Marathon was indeed for players who play a lot”
aww … aint that sweet? may i add just like every other promotion u provide?
Next special promotion will be during the Olympics!
You know how it works, Olympics is all about winning, all about Gold!
More info later:)
Stats on this site do not count.
People play far looser on this site than with real money, I am a professional grinder and can tell you that especially in low stakes, people on this site are far looser than what happens in real ring games and tournaments.
Thus, if the overall sample size is severely loose then this tournament relies much more on the cards you hold rather than how you play them and read into others (I have also noticed much more passive loose calling than is normally seen in higher up tournaments when I spectate).
It is a simple fact that superior poker players are tighter players. Don’t bring up Tony G and Dwwwan, they are not the best poker players. They are very loose in a game with many tight sharks and abuse this to turn it into a much more chaotic game. This is ‘cool’ and sometimes ‘amazing’ to watch but their win rate is lower than the people they actually beat by lucky rivers and real money stats are what matter.
People also are much more prone to ‘tell’ with real money. Since people play tighter, when you are actually playing a LAG it is much more prominent. On this site the dominant playstyles are TAG and LAG. TPA and LPA are stomped on in games but in real poker TPAs and LPAs can be devestatingly game-changing with a sudden TPA slowrolling an AG or a ballsy LPA risking it all and benefiting from a seemingly hopeless hand. On this site however, bluffing is a non-sequitur since it’s fake money and people aren’t going to go broke if they ball-call wrong. If anything you should just raise back to whoever raises you and see them somehow fear losing fake money…
Really, this ranking is useless to me. All I see is a ranking of who has the most AG style of gameplay and times it well but in real money poker PA specialists who slowroll and/or ball-call based on leaks are the genuinely dominant players.
If you really are a professional grinder, the more you should handle on this page. Unfortunately, the top-50 is not got promoted, so I think in your case, no matter what style you play just did not have the skills.
Winning here is child’s play! Just play solid TAG and over a longer period of time will deal with each opponent-no matter what style presents.

The whole idea is to try to create an environment whereby people will put value on the chips. This was done successfully at Poker Academy with what they called a Pax System. Every player starts with 50 Pax (chips) They must win 200 Pax to start to build their bank. Most players spent weeks, months, or years in Freeroll. There are at least 20 alumni from Poker Academy playing here and almost all of them are top listed with maybe as many as a billion chips between them (maybe an exaggerated guess, but not far off). Also, most of them don’t even play penny ante. So while I agree, it is looser here than money games.
But the looseness isn’t caused by the free chips; it is caused by all the bonus chips that make it into our universal economy.
If there were a real Freeroll system here, similar to Poker Academy, where entry was small and after they achieved, say 200K, then we wouldn’t see so much loose play. When you are forced to only play Freeroll until you achieve 200K you are less likely to be so loose.
And this, my friend, will make the play here more competitive and the good players may have to learn the Cappelletti Rule, the rule that discerns loose and tight players, whether passive or aggressive. Right now every table is loose, but that can be successfully changed.
Then the definitions of TAG, LAG, TP, and LP will have more importance. The Poker Academy system seems to be the only free poker site that has worked to tighten up players.

I started his adventure with paid poker in a similar academy like you. Unfortunately, players level freeroll no matter on which poker room is as low as here, and thus never learn to play well!
The best way to build a bankroll is to play SnG’s. Therefore, I believe that if someone here by playing this marathon is not handled, the more there is nothing to seek his fortune playing money
Slow rolling ? You meant slow playing I guess.
That is very untrue, it depends on the table. The general direction is that poker is becoming looser and looser both online and live (with real money).
I haven’t played low stakes on RP for quite some time now, but micro stakes real money play almost the same as 2k/4k and 5k/10k on RP. Low stakes real money are tighter but my guess is it gets more and more aggro as you climb up because there are more and more TAGs and you have to become a LAG to be successful.
And we’re only talking about NLHE, PLO is another animal and there you can see real aggressiveness and very loose calls.
i have opened a topic where it is said 4th n 5th place finish in a 9 men table shud not be rewarded with tourney points. nobody posted anything there as usual. ppl shud go to that thread n agree with my opinion to change tourney system in sng competitions monthly.
You’re right HoopHoop, the current allocation of points is one big misunderstanding! My opinion about scoring SnG: 1-9points, 2-6points, 3-3points and 4th 1point consolation, as it happens unlucky to lose the fight by 3 place ;-). Also tournaments where for my taste, the current score distorts completely the sense of rivalry :-(((
I agree about building your bank by SnGs; that is exactly where I went.
But I know the goals of Replay Poker have two phases, and one of them is to educate the player; that is qualitative quest and they are on it. They have a corporate obligation to earn money for the investors, but they are doing so by building a new business model, and in the end they know the value of an educated player base.
The fact is in real world money games you get a lot of equally bad play. Just on that fact alone it makes a case to practice your real world skills here. But in the end ReplayPoker is building a quality site that will attract good players and also make good players; this is not lost by management. They listen to new ideas and they respond well.

I think this is a great discussion. I agree that it is odd to have 50% of the players receive a bonus, almost like just for attending the games. But the take-way I see is that for slower players it is a tremendous way to gain some pride in their play and learn by their mistakes. Think of it as a training method, for that is what it is.
There is a whole host of good players willing to teach. My favorite is Joe Dirk; he is well educated and has earned his way to proving it. Find him, befriend him, and ask him questions.
It is important to realize that there is some incredibly great play going on at Replay Poker. I, like everybody, thought I was the greatest player in the world. I then was slammed and when I woke up from the deserved beating I realized that my ego got in my way. After observing all the jabber jawing about poker I am convinced there isn’t a soul playing poker whose ego hasn’t at one time or another got in their way. Poker is a very humbling experience.
I believe Replay Poker offers a whole lot and the smart player will find their nook and cranny and evolve steadily into a better and better player. They just have to follow their bliss. There are always good games being played so find your way into them.

nope, theres no take-way in the long term. for slower players it maybe good at first to get some points to feel good but once they become better it will be bad for them. rather ‘top 3 gets everything’ system wud induce good play as it wud be necessity to look for different strategies to vie for top 3 place. and thats how a player gets better. at first there wud be disapointment but in the long run those who keep trying wud reap rewards. n those who will disheartened n give up deserve to remain a loser.
Let me try another route. I have 30 million chips. Half of those chips came from bonuses, the daily bonus and the monthly leader board bonuses. My friends have two and three times what I have because they left SnGs with much less than me and went to Ring where there are no bonuses. I went to Ring also. But here is the difference. They went to Texas and I went to Omaha Hi Lo.
I am trying hard to know that game, got the books and still am having difficulty. When I “get it” I have already told my friends I am coming after them. I expect if I would have chosen Texas Hold’em I’d have twice as many chips. Then and only then will I be out of the bonus situation. This should be the normal route.
Bonuses are not the real issue. What is at issue is having a place to learn, like a good Freeroll system which allows people to learn value in the chips they are forced to win. Make the system for only players who have low banks. Throw them out when they reach a certain amount. Then push them into the SnGs and then they will emerge through that hierarchy to the place where they make the choice me and my friends made.
The issue is not about the value of bonuses per se but the value of learning to build a bank. If ReplayPoker has the formula that states to get more paying customers be free with bonuses, let’s keep the bonuses but adjust them in ways that allow our hosts to earn and allow the end result of playing in a nice setting where you can learn through natural ascension.
Apologies for the length; wasn’t meant to be as long. I will mute for awhile.

Scratch,if I understand it (I do not know English and I explain it in google) wrote about acquiring new players. That it was possible to replay would make the following changes:
A-improve the quality of graphics! This is extremely clumsy and reminds me of the level of the game from Atari and Commodore. Remember yet such computers?
B-improved speed servers! It can not be that every moment I received the message “Reload”
C-enter the new formats appealing to beginners such as fastpoker, (fold- you move automatically to the next table) and DoN-Double or Nothing-is the best format to encourage players to try their hand at SnG.Many people start their adventure on paid rooms just from a secure format.
D-do the upgrade program! It can not be that at 2 hand lose, because the fish got the coveted card on the river with her 0.5% chance. Believe it or not, but I played for 10 free pages in poker and now play 7 paid poker rooms and NOWHERE these situations do not occur with such frequency !!! Let me give you a simple example on the previous page where I played (Gamedesire, 3y.o. played there), I spent good time and like everywhere once won, one I lost ;-)It was enough that the owners have changed, and suddenly my friends, who had 100, 200 million chips began to lose mass. We wrote on the forum that something is wrong-we ended up in that … they gave me a lifetime ban on admission and friends seeing that logical arguments do not work, just stopped there to play. Here also they undermine any argument by saying that after all are certified RNG and the truth is that someone wrote this program and the other capable computer scientist will be able to interfere in it. There, the owners wanted to achieve quick profit and ended the fact that a large number of people stopped playing … Let’s just hope that a similar story is not happend to replay poker
P.S. If the words get here banned the game, I promise that I will not cry for this reason
