Born in Michigan, raised in So. California, now live in Merced Central Valley. California.
I was born in Furth, Germany. My dad was an M.P. Sergeant with the American forces when he met my mom. In 1951, my parents immigrated to Canada and I decided to tag along. We wound up in a little mining community called Val-d’Or, Quebec. 365 miles north of Montreal, on highway 117(later to become part of the Trans Continental Highway) in the middle of nowhere; surrounded by forests on all side. It turned out, that Val-d’Or was part of the gold bearing Cadillac Fault that stretched from Kirkland Lake, Ont. far into the La Verendrye park(along highway 117) Growing up in the French Quebec community wasn’t a bowl of cherries. Both the French and English speaking inhabitants of the place, resented the foreign newcomers and that animosity was passed on to their children. Learning both the French and English languages wasn’t easy for a German/Polish immigrant kid and it led to many skirmishes. On the up side, Val-d’Or was a tiny United Nations. Work was available in many of the mines that sprang up in the area and people from every nation converged to the towns in Northern Quebec. Growing up in Val-d’Or was a special time for me. Many lasting friendships were created. Did I mention being surrounded by forests? Ahem. I think I did. The forests and the forest trails became our playgrounds. Lakes and streams were also readily accessible where we would swim and fish. Who would have thought, that 63 years later, I would be instrumental in creating a park to honor the early settlers who came from nations all over the world to settle in Val-d’Or and its surrounding area.
Originally from Minneapolis Minnesota. I got a job offer and moved to Sioux Falls, SD where the growth has been fantastic. Although the State doesn’t have many people the population of Sioux Falls has almost doubled in the past 25 years

I’m originally from the south coast region of Massachusetts but now retired in the midcoast of Maine. Maine is known as the “Vacation state” as there are many folks who visit annually. I have a lovely view of the ocean which warms the soul and keeps optimism high…best of luck all!
Hi all,
I live in Belgium, a small village. Every time I arrive at the entrance, I tell myself that I am very lucky A small stream meanders through the village, it is lined with trees and a forest. Tranquility reigns there, you can hear a lot of animals grazing in the surrounding fields, many birds come to nest there, especially in the quickset hedges. Besides, I hear the cranes going down to the south, a sign that spring is not far away
It is the ideal place to relax and forget all the hassles of everyday life. Only the international problems remain present and make us think that our life does not depend on much. So let’s enjoy while we can!
(NB: my English is rusty and google translate is starting to get tired, so would it be possible to have an automatic translator at table level? :))

life here is very nice, especially in summer when you can use the beautiful beaches. And of course for fishing. Also motorcycling is a lot of fun in this region.
unfortunately there are many tourists here most of the time, it is sometimes annoying, but in the end the city also lives from it.
