Ever find your jeans willing to stand on their own after hanging too long? : ) Had an old wringer washer that walked around the room as it washed, then one at a time thru the ringer and finely the line,

Yes, LOL!! We bought a more modern pair (had to make a hole in the cellar wall for the dryer’s vent) about 1958. Before that, it was wringer and clothesline. The actual ice box was gone about 1953 (I’m pretty sure Ike was President then). The ice delivery guy was unhappy, as was I–no more chipping off the block of ice for me in the summer.

On the way to the bath Mom yells, “And clean behind your ears, they’re so dirty you could grow potatoes there.”
And then there was this one: If I catch you saying a bad word I’m gonna wash your mouth out with soap.
Mom: I can’t believe they’re selling these rolls of paper towels, like you see in the gas station washrooms, to replace our dish rags. They’ll never sell, who the heck would want to buy a paper towel?
(This one stuck in my mind since a kid because I remember thinking after mom said that, they’ll sell millions of’em.)

Back in the dial up days of the internet, I remember my step-father telling me that the internet is just a fad that will fade out in time. I have been teasing him about that statement ever since.
