are the terms idiot, f.u., kma acceptable at a table

I dunno about acceptable but I have seen them used…

Not acceptable and can/should be reported. Even if YOU aren’t offended, we all need to keep Replay Poker a safe place for anyone and everyone to come enjoy themselves.

Although I abhor vulgarity and profanities, and I love a relaxed and polite atmosphere at a poker table, I don’t agree with your suggestion to report ALL expressions of anger to the “authority”. Obviously, if they are occasional, and not a reiterated attempt to intimidate and belittle other players and ruin their enjoyment of the game.
Now seriously, does anyone really feel offended by expressions like “kma”, “fu” or “bs”? Well, probably I am not that sensitive.
And above all, the idea of being surrounded by “informers” makes me a little uncomfortable. That reminds me too much of my school time.
I’ve been called “idiot” for winning a hand several times, but instead of running to a moderator, I managed the situation myself. I’m no child. Either I ignored it, or I laughed and wrote in the chat something along these lines: “Calm down, you are risking a heart attack.” That was always enough to silent the “abuser”.
Recently I greeted a very nice player with a Latin expression, and to my great surprise one of the words was replaced by 4 asterisks. I laughed and thought, oh dear, what expletive have I said? After a while I understood it, but it was funny to see that I, too, could be crude, albeit accidentally.
Cheers,
Mirella

House rules in live games include courtesy. In live games, tone can help communicate intent. When it’s just typed words, an unintended sting can be delivered. It’s great if a simple reminder from a fellow player stops abusive language. No need to report if it stops.

all those 13 year olds playing,ya kno lol

Probably why there is not much chat at replay…everyones skeerd of being muted :))

Miri,
I too take a relaxed approach… but those 3 ya listed, were perfect examples…
“bs” - we know what it is, but not really offensive just a way around the censors (no prob)
“kma” - thats borderline… it shows us where the line is @least… (borderline)
“fu” - thats actionable, but prolly not in the way Replay would… (actionable)

now I can see 1-2 times where “fu” can be used and its not against CoC, but I specialize in semantics… and walking the line …

Context. I try to consider the situation. If a “pattern” is emerging then I’ll act. I may advise with “Careful” and “Let’s keep it fun and friendly”. If things subside, no worries. If they don’t, or worse escalate, action is warranted and pursued.

Frankly, I’m there to play great poker and not “monitor” other’s behavior as an objective.
