Under the Hoodie

Head

I find I need to be in the right frame of mind to play poker well. Distraction is not as damaging to my game as worry or distress. Distress from any direction throws me off, makes me vulnerable to rash and unwise decisions in a hand. Worst of all, when I’m not right “under the hoodie,” I tend to play with more hope than logic. Does this ring true for others?

I only play when I’m in the mood for fun and competition hence the reason why I have a hard time committing to private league play to be fair to my team. Replay competition is a whole other story. Always in the mood ! :wink:

Poker = Hope and logic
Hope = please please fold I am bluffing please please fold at the screen
Gin and Tonic = Poker + Hope and no logic, and please slow play while I get another round in
Wearing a hoodie Outdoors = only if I have a bad hair day
Wearing a hoodie at a live game = rock up in your high heels , drink water and play the how do play poker card and then - 1 hour later pull out your poker branded hoodie with built in earphones and make no eye contact and simply ask the card room supervisor for a double Gin and Tonic

I work under an undue amount of stress and tension, due to the business I own. It’s because I care about people and the financial concerns they have and I am asked to resolve many of those problems, both business and personal wise. am very good at what I do all over the country, but at times, its insurmountable. that is when I am beat up when I play. So I comprehend what you said, Sir. Semper Fi and Vaya con Dios. (God be with you)

Hey, fellow jarhead, there are a whole lot of us here at Replay. But I think I have to flag this because I don’t think posting email addresses in the Forums is allowed. (If it’s okay, they’ll leave it.) I’d suggest putting it on your Profile page if you want contact with others (some of whom will not be nice folks). It’s true as you say, you have to have the right mood to succeed! I’m a good example of that! If you have a lot on your mind, you are playing badly! The day before yesterday it was bad for me, I thought too much and lost all the chips, but yesterday when the problems were solved I won 1 million chips from starting with 5000 :slight_smile: So your mood is important! You should not play when you do not have it but poker works for me as a way to avoid stress and feel good and have fun, the most important thing is not to win every time it is to participate and have fun!
