It is this way online–small cash games ppl. play with ANY 2 cards ( in the end-we take their money )–the same here—ppl. behind a keyboard seem to push a button with anything, at the casino we would lol at them ( and take their money lol ) so it is not done there:).
I had the same problem. Playing tight has worked for me in live games. But online, it’s a bit different. I widened my range, and I’m hitting more often. I’m not super loose, but it gives me more options.
Also, when calling the blinds with lower cards, you might hit something that other players haven’t considered because they didn’t think you’d play low cards.
I hit it lucky like that by accident a few nights ago. I was trying to get the online radio to work when I heard the reminder ‘bell’. I just got the window up in time to hit Call on suited rags before being sat out, only to realise I was calling a huge raise. Oh no, this is going to put me out of the tournament! Out comes the flop, KA4. I had a 4 and not enough left in my stack to bother with, so I just called and went all in with the pittance I had left, thinking I’ll just go in the next tournament. Out comes another 4 and I won the hand taking me from 40th or something to first! You just never know with poker, but no way would I have bet on a pair of 4s if not for the f up!
You GOT 2 only play 7-2 off suit hands:)
Preflop is different in cash games and tournaments.
Tournaments i play way more aggressive and not near as good of cards as in a cash game.
It’s not just the same ONE Villain sucking you out, it’s several which gives you the impression that ‘Villain always has it’, when in fact any one Villain rarely has it.
Villain 1 has it 10% of the time, Villain 2 10 % etc and so on Villain 5 has it 10% … and over 50 hands you take 5 suckouts form 5 different Villains and your brains says “That damn Villain has it 50% of the time!” He doesn’t. None of them do.
Stay tight, stay aggressive. Over time you will beat them all. ; )
I know replay game they want you to buy more chips. they have a dummy in all games to take your chips.
jeeezis friggin kee rist lmao
think this through for 5 seconds
and building off @napkin_holder’s excellent point, it’s not just that losses are spread across multiple villains and multiple scenarios but FEEL like they’re concentrated in one…
…it’s the reverse effect with winning, too. casual players tend to have a grossly exaggerated view of what winning will look like. they don’t realize that “losing player” and “winning player” look exactly the same in 8/10 instances, and it is what happens in that last 20% that makes all the difference.
Getting it all-in with garbage. ; )
Now this one was all about position as it folded to me on small blind. It was a blown steal attempt that hit hard. Ripped it in his face on the river, hoping that it looked like a bluff. He called with AK whiffed so I guess that he bought it.
