How to change your luck at the table

I sent you a friend request. I want to ask you a few questions about Pokerstars and this forum is not the appropriate place to do it.

@miri123 ,

What I mean is lets say you go to a table with 2 open seats… #4 & #7, and lets say your fav. seat is #2 … now, in your senario either seat will become #2 after you sit, then rotate ( yes seats you pervs, :face_with_raised_eyebrow: ) … now, to the computer you still sat in seat 4 or 7, so if there is a seat bias (not) , it would be as the computer sees it, not how you see it.

Next off Miri, if the table chip-leader is in seat 5 or 6, then it will be hard if you do a mid buyin and have the ā€œstackā€ directly to your left… better to seat in 7, and be able to play after… ( that depends if you rather bet before the ā€œstackā€ or after the ā€œstackā€. So that is a personal choice, but making that choice is more important by far, than if you have your Fav. seat.

As for that illusion Miri… @ Pokerstars, you let them pick your seat… to thier code, it randomly picked for you ( seat wise ), then auto-rotated for you, then showed you sitting @ the table. So yes, it was an illusion.

As in most Forums, it is not different here. It is hard to have a real dialogue or even debate, because people often don’t read attentively what the others write, but are eager to communicate their ideas, if they are in context or out of context.
Sassy, I’m sorry for saying so, but we are talking about two different situations.
Let’s see if I got your posts correctly.
You are talking all the time of cash (or ring) games. I, on the other side, was referring all the time to tournaments, the only format I play here.
Maybe I didn’t specify it - my fault - but when I said in my first post ā€œgiving the frequent change of tables during a tournamentā€, and I repeated it in my following posts, it should have been evident.
Now, at a tournament you get assigned randomly a seat from Replay. I rotate the seats for MERELY PRACTICAL reasons, as most people do. Maybe a specific position is easier to their eyes, maybe is more comfortable because of the position of their screen, maybe even because they think a seat is luckier. Well, the latter is indeed an illusion, but superstition has never had anything to do with reason.
When I rotate the seats, the chip leader, or whoever, will still be on my right or on my left, or far away from me, because all the players rotate with me. All positions remain the same.
Where is the difference if I rotate my seat manually, with the arrows, or Replay does it for me automatically? Where is there the illusion?
I haven’t played ring games in a long time. I prefer by far tournaments, because winning a tourney is to me a better goal than winning more chips. If I remember correctly, though, I took a free seat at a table, THEN I rotated the seats there, too, simply because it was more comfortable to play from that position, certainly not for highly tactical reasons.

Well Miri,
the simple truth is that in a MTT or SnG, you do not get the choice of a seat… ever.
Therefore your choice of seats is 100% an illusion. You are correct, if Replay did it, or you do it ( rotate manually ) it will NOT effect the order as we both indicated.

I was thinking you wanted the ā€œraw seatā€ that is always ā€œyour seatā€, and that is impossible in MTT/SnG. I do look for the ā€œraw seatā€ issue, so I never rotate manually… because I am hoping if its a lucky seat number, its the raw seat number thats lucky.

I’m sorry If I misunderstood you, I read all your posts and am trying to be helpfull. I am sorry if I have failed.

Oh dear, no, no reason to be sorry for.
I know you are always very kind and try to help people, and I thank you.
I assure you, though, that I understood I had not the least influence in the assignment of the seats, or in the dealing of the cards the very first minute I started playing a MTT online.

Well Miri,
Then I did kinda misunderstand you, and for that I’m sorry… no biggie/no worries.
I would make a comment but I’m on thin ice right now, so I better not. ( nothing about u ).
Again, sorry for the misunderstanding.
Sassy

I’m soooo lost in this thread now. I’ll just keep reading and try my best to understand.

on ring games if there is more than 1 seat available its worth checking who is sitting where, I’ll always want the bingo players on my right. on the MTT’s you have no choice obviously as you get bunged anywhere.
