Forever Phil New League

Congratulations to the Mystics who won today without breaking a sweat it seems. Anyway… with two games remaining in this month it is plain to see that just two Teams will be grappling it out tomorrow and next Thursday to determine July’s Champion Team. 🙂

Congratulations to the… Mentors, Mystics and Munchers! As all three teams tied in today’s Lightning Pairs, with one more game to go, all four tables were almost full for a fierce battle to see which team would take the edge. However, it seems as if the Mystics are going to maintain their monthly lead. Tune in next week to find out who will take July’s trophy!

A player from Table 2 encountered a glitch where he appeared to be registered in the tournament lobby, but was not placed at his table. Having already experienced this issue, it is highly probable that it will happen if you register within a two-minute window between the table being started and the tournament being initialised (between five and three minutes before the game’s start time). It is highly likely that replay will glitch and place you in what I can only assume to be oblivion. After two minutes from the start of the tournament, the glitchy user is automatically unregistered and cannot register, even though the late registration period is still on. As a result of this glitch, we have resorted to using the bye table. Replay is aware of this issue and we hope they can fix it soon. In the meantime, please try to register for the tournament at least five minutes before the start of the game to avoid these situations.

It has been pointed out that there were errors in the Leaderboard for the Mr. Monk’s Atlantic Challenge on July 20th and the Mr. Monk’s Pacific Challenge on July 22nd, in both cases… the quarter to date results for both points and average did not reflect the points earned on those two respective days.

Below are both corrected Leaderboards which are now up to date and ready to be messed up in a different way next time.

Too much time has passed since the last instance when I have said this on behalf of the Organizers, and today I will say the same the same thing, but differently I hope. We all have our lives to live and some of us have more time to spare than others, consequently and with this in mind, one’s want and/or need to help out their Team is appreciated, but it should be the last thing [or damn close to it] on one’s list of ‘need to do’s’. So with this being said; appreciation and thanks must first go to our three Captains, Tony, Johan and Dan who do and have played, when 95% of all others in their respective time zones are sound asleep. Secondly… a thank you must go out to everyone else who have chosen to play when it is not ideal for them but important for their Team. Respect.

Congratulations to Rock&Pebble, MONKEYzBUzINEz, RiverRats and Lightning Bandits for winning the 6th round of Jenny and Phil’s Dynamic duos, With one more round left til the final play-offs, Rock&Pebble and Lightning Bandits are both tied for first place with round 7 pitting them one against the other, we might have a clear race leader by next week, So tune in to find out!

Congratulations to DaKster63, DangerBaby and HeyHandOff for finishing in the top 3 in this week’s edition of Mr.Monk’s Atlantic Challenge, The battle was fierce, taking over an hour to finish, but it was very fun to watch, hope you to see you all next week!

Congratulations to today’s Pacific Challenge, DaKster63, and to RavenL and mimi65 for also finishing on the podium.

Congratulations to the Mystics who won today and the month of July in Jenny and Phil’s Lightning Pairs. They took the lead in the middle of the month and never looked back from the goal of winning their 3rd month in a row. A dynasty in the making?, perhaps and as someone else might say… tune in tomorrow when the slate is clean and August begins. Today all four tables were full and we would like to see that more often on both days. The Organizers must thank everyone who played when they could in this month.

Now that we are in August of this year, it is time and appropriate for all of us to take a look back, to see how we got here. Sadly it was because a good person died… Phil Guibilo is who I am speaking about, he was very well liked by most and loved by nearly as many. Jenny Gentry with the help of others created Forever Phil League exclusively for the friends of Phil to have a place to congregate and enjoy decent fun through competitive play.

That was all fine and good until August 12th of last year when very sadly, Jenny passed away after complications experienced post brain surgery. Make no mistake about it, Forever Phil League was Jenny’s baby from the get go. Dan aka FranklyI was alongside Jenny in the early days and then, for purely selfish reasons, I got into the mix. Most recently was a very much needed and welcome ingredient in the recipe to keep the cake baking properly… Badr Rami stepped up. And we are now, to some degree, in his debt.

With a sincere thanks to Replay graciously stepping up in a time of want, we would like everyone to know that there will be a modest amount of add on chips in August for every Jenny and Phil’s Lightning Pairs games as well as all the Mr. Monk’s Atlantic and Pacific Challenges.

I would like to say that each time that I dig within myself to say some needed words it takes something out of me, I am good with this because it is important that I do my part in illuminating some of what has happened to get us, to where we are at presently. Please take some pause and remember that we all die, but not all of us really live… and yes we all have friends here and elsewhere that have died. The truth is, in my opinion, that no one is truly dead until such time when one is no longer remembered by those who presently exist in this physical realm.

Penny, Phil Guibilo, Jenny Gentry, Jack Vandament, Dan Jensen and Jim Collins we all truly hope… that you are well and good wherever you happen to be.

And with that, the first Lightning Pairs game of August is finished! Congratulations to the Mystics and the Mentors, who tied for first place and now share the lead in the MTD. I hope you all had fun — see you in tomorrow’s Heads Up Games!

Please note that while Table 3 was cancelled, only the Mystics were able to claim the points for that table. The other player was unable to receive points due to an empty spot being available for the Munchers in Table 4. This is a good time to remind you that, in the event of a table being cancelled, players must join another table. Only if no other table has vacant spots for their team do they get to claim the points for the cancelled game.

On Sunday August 10th at 12pm Eastern, three Playoff Games will run to determine 1) the Champion Duo Team for Season 8 of Jenny and Phil’s Dynamic Duos and 2) the final order of all other Duo Teams.

DD Playoff 1 : determines 1st and 2nd and will have a 300K add on, with all four places in the prize pool. 1st & 2nd place in the Regular Season will play in this game.

DD Playoff 2 : determines 3rd, 4th and 5th and will have a 210K add on, with all six places in the prize pool, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the Regular Season will play in this game.

DD Playoff 3 : determines 6th, 7th and 8th and will have a 150K add on, with all six places in the prize pool, 6th, 7th, and 8th in the Regular Season will play in this game.

In the two secondary Playoff Games, it is how the top Player of each Duo Team finishes, which will determine the final order of the Duo Teams. A Duo Team that finishes in 2nd and 3rd will only benefit the Player finishing in 3rd in terms of chips won.

The Organizers of Forever Phil, want and need to thank everyone who has played in any or all of the previous Seasons and this one too obviously.

We are presently looking at having Season 9 start on Sunday August 31st, with at least 8 Duo Teams again hopefully.

Congratulations to Rock & Pebble who finished on top after 7 rounds of games in Season 8 of Jenny and Phil’s Dynamic Duos. A big thank you to everyone who has played in this Season, see you all next Sunday when…

the Duos Teams who will be facing each other, in the three Playoff games are as follows…

DD Playoff 1 ~ Rock & Pebble vs Lightning Bandits

DD Playoff 2 ~ RiverRats vs Bananas & Deepest Purple

DD Playoff 3 ~ Nomads vs MONKEYzBUzINEz & Ad Infinitum

A more formal lineup/promo will be produced and posted late today or tomorrow at the latest. A reminder will be posted on Friday evening.
