Does the Replay Forum help you to improve your game?

Great folk’s in the forum from beginners to more experienced, sharing their experiences and thoughts.
The Forum and the knowledge available has been a blessing to me!

I have only one complaint about the Forum’s. All of the topics are so interesting. it causes me to be late or miss a pre-scheduled tourney Every Day!

Has the forum helped you to improve your games in Replay ?

It has helped me on learning how certain players play and taking notes on how they play.

Some posts certainly do, others not so much. Learning how other players see a hand or break down a hand can be insightful.

That is a great insight to me as well, even if I don’t agree how a player play’s their hand at times. It still opens the door of me changing my play in certain situations.

It is interesting seeing other players opinions on how to either play their hands and strategies in the different tourneys or ring games. Not that I will use another players playstyle but always good to have that knowledge if I need at some point.

The best insight I’ve learned is how players react on an online video poker site with an RNG. The forums are entertaining at best.

Everyone has their own style of play online vs live games. It’s interesting to read all the comments here for the last 8 years.

Being able to understand board textures, learning patience, and recognizing player types is what I think Replay really does to improve your play. Not listening to other players gripe about bad beats, suckouts by fish, the site is rigged. etc. is a good idea, because there’s a lot of it in the forums.

I do believe the forum has helped me improve my game.

Had a thought that could be helpful to many players here, that’s if there was a page explaining all sorts of different poker terms and abbreviations, perhaps even terms such as pot odds or implied odds, and so forth.
A term I don’t know the meaning of that MinnowShark just mentioned is board textures?
I haven’t a clue what that means, lol, have a good day!

The term “board texture” refers to how the community cards interact with typical hand ranges. It is the starting point of postflop strategy after hand ranges have been clearly defined by the preflop action.

K72 rainbow is a perfect example of a dry board. Better board to bluff on as there are no straight possibilities and less likely of anyone hitting a flush.
TJK, and/or 3 cards to a suit would be considered wet boards. TJK not so good to bluff on as this one has open ended straight possibilities, possible overpairs, top pair, etc. And, 3 cards to a suit leave you open to flushes hurting your hand. I’ve seen hands where there were 3 diamonds on the flop when I had AA, got another Ace, went all in with 3 aces, but not the ace that would’ve given me the nuts, and lost to someone who hit another card that made their flush, and when they turned over their card they had a 2d. I lost to the lowest possible card that made their straight. A good player would’ve probably folded to my large bets, but on Replay there are so many players who bet anything, so understanding board texture is especially critical.

The Forum had definitely has helped me with poker terms, different odds and strategy’s as well. Before really studying and reading all of the topics, I had no idea what any pokers terms, odd’s & strategy’s were and just wanted to play the game. Then I found how critical they can, be if understood and utilized in the games. Always learning:)

Application is key. I still do things I know I shouldn’t do, and know I shouldn’t be doing them when I do. I have a habit of not believing they have it, even when the board and their betting say they do. Large bets on the turn are usually the nuts. Large bets on the river are the nuts. I know that if I ignore that, I lose probably close to 90% of the time, and I pay the price. Boredom, hubris, whatever…
