Do you like running out the clock?

I couldn’t tell you if those players are actually thinking, or killing the clock, you would have to ask them. I know that if someone is heads up against me, and they completely run out the clock, then I will bet as fast as I can. A lot of times this works. You are sat out when the clock runs to zero, and I can bet faster than they can sit back in, therefore they are folded automatically. A smart clock killer would almost run out the clock, but not all the way to zero.

Close to money line or next money line in tournaments is the ONLY reason i know of 2 actually keep using the whole clock.

Frankly, this is completely unworkable. Seats don’t just get shuffled when players are knocked out, tables also need to be rebalanced due to late registration. The slow players could also late reg, so what do you do then?

Seats have to be assigned on a purely random basis or you’ll always end up introducing some bias. That’s far more problematic than people running the clock out.

If there are players who are doing that constantly when there’s clearly no need for it, you can report them, but maybe you should just learn to live with it, because games on Replay still run much faster than any other site.

MUCH faster. Honestly this is the most important point.

@bill8888 I face many chess-difficult decisions every day on Replay

I tried reporting these players back when I first joined Replay almost 2 years ago, but Replay absolutely refuses to do anything about it, so I haven’t reported anyone in quite a while.
In my experience, Replay is the slowest site. Possibly because other sites allow players to mercilessly harass the slow players, while Replay will punish you for doing so. However, Replay has other good points which is why I play here. After trying numerous other sites, I haven’t found a better one yet, but I keep looking for another option. Even though Replay might be one of the better sites, there is still so much room for improvement, and the negatives are really negative. If I ever find a better site than Replay, then I will politely say my goodbyes. I actually left a couple of times for a few months each time, but wound up coming back.
As far as being completely unworkable, you might have a point, but dang it would be so much fun. I would definitely play in these tournaments, and I would love to just watch the slow table to see the interesting comments.

I agree Bill. For me, the only time to kill the clock is when it’s close to the money, or when there’s still 2 tables and the difference between 10th and 9th place is substantial. Of course there’s the exception once in a while when you need extra time to think, but I’m talking about the ones who consistently run out the timer every single turn. The times that really get under my skin is when a player kills the clock in the beginning of a tournament (not the first hand, because some players aren’t on the table yet), on the final table, or in low stakes games.

Stop it my friend:)–Fun free site…cash sites i never needed much clock UNLESS in tournament n close to money or next money line.

I KNOW re-play will not post this my friend:)—You n your charts for what to play n when etc. n you being awwww an expert lmfao:)…Any good player does NOT need stats or charts etc. as we read players and play different when playing against 9 players, playing against 6 players, playing against 4 players or playing heads up or tournament play etc… Would LOVE playing u heads up 7 days a week n twice on Sundays ( non-football season) for REAL my friend:).

I use charts and statistics to make a point. I play by my reads, and switch gears according to the situation. I think you already know that.

Doesn’t taking all that into account require more time to act than just blindly following a chart?

There are players who tank fold almost every hand preflop in ring games. They’re clearly just trying to get under people’s skins, which is a pretty scummy thing to do on a free poker site were most are just playing for fun. I would suggest you don’t let them and just ignore these players.

Players in ring games are easy to deal with. If I don’t like them, then I move to another table. You can’t do that in a tournament, and that’s what this post is about.

A lot of people have had to deal with a certain situation at work. There’s another employee who doesn’t do their job right, makes it harder for the other employees, and the boss won’t do anything to the problem employee. Some employees will quit their job over this. By doing nothing and not choosing a side, the boss inadvertently chose the side of the trouble maker. Now he has to spend money to hire a new employee and train them. He wonders why good help is hard to find, and will blame it on something else.
The situation is similar here, if you go back and read my comment about 7-card stud. Replay is left wondering why nobody plays these games, and they run a post asking the question, “What can we do to attract more players for the 7-card stud games?”

@lihiue

There was a complaint a couple of years ago of a player doing exactly this. I don’t recall his handle but his avatar was a bulldog. I watched a number of his replays and noticed when he didn’t have a hand he ran the clock down. When he had a hand he acted quicker, I actually searched for him so I could play against him and test my theory but he never was on line at the same time.

I’m pretty sure others who do this, it’s for a reason.,

They tank fold in cash games 2—i honestly think they just like trying to put us on tilt as ppl. start calling them names, i just lol:)

WHAT lol-your brain should have the charts after a couple of million hands of poker:).

I play this game while watching tv shows or movies. So yeah, sorry about that.

@kjzq that’s perfectly fine, and you owe no one an apology, though it’s nice of you to say “sorry.”

The games on Replay are already quite fast, there is no time bank option, and few players are deliberately wasting time. I find all this hand-wringing kinda laughable. Just move tables if you’re annoyed some players are being slow.

The only really meaningful answer to this entire thread is that players have every right to use the time given, other than very rare cases where someone is clearly being intentionally abusive. When it is your turn, you are free to act as quickly or slowly as you like. When it is someone else’s turn, they are free to do the same.

There happens to already be a mechanism to prevent players from taking too long—it’s called the action timer.
